Possessing his legendary thick eyebrows, Gejimayu [Centipede Brows] Rock Lee is one of the most prominent Genin to have graduated within Konohagakure. Standing at a rather tall height for his age, 5'2", Lee would seem a rather intimidating figure if his appearance weren't so ridiculous otherwise. He has rather enigmatic eyes, large and round with prominent lower lashes, meaning he certainly stands out in a crowd.

One feature of Lee's appearance that certainly garters attention is his hair. Now, it has gone through quite the cycle of changes throughout his life, the first of which being in his Academy days, sporting a rather controlled and organised hair style with a long braid at the back, reminiscent of shaolin kung fu masters. As he advanced to Genin status, he changed this slightly, losing the braid and splaying out the edges of his hair style so that it was more wild and less controlled, perhaps eluding to a short rebellious phase. However, as he grew more attached to Gai-sensei as a father figure, he began to adopt piece of his appearance, most prominently his hair style, being of a rather controlled and efficient bowl cut.

His attire is also rather unique to his character, influenced heavily by Gai-sensei. A green jumpsuit, similar to those sported by modern day kung fu masters such as the late Bruce Lee. In addition, his orange leg warmers hide his incredibly heavy training weights and his kunai holster and Shuriken pouch are located on his right leg and left hip. To signify his status as a Konoha shinobi, his red forehead protector is tied around his waist.

Unlike Gai-sensei however, he wears a set of bandages around each of his wrists and hands, a supplement to his Omote Renge technique and to cover up a set of stitches on his left hand due to his rigorous training.

PERSONALITY |

The energetic, enigmatic, enthusiastic 'Handsome Devil of Konohagakure', Rock Lee is certainly a lively one and certainly likable by any means, if a little.. shall we say different. He is very much the complete and utter incarnation of 'nice guy', with his idol and father figure Maito Gai, having taken on many of his personality traits and weird quirks.

His common sense certainly leaves a lot to be desired, like Gai's, believing that sometimes getting what you want requires you to not want it at all, which could reveal a certain level of superstition as well. Gai-sensei certainly provides a lot of worthy things for young Lee to write down but he often forgets that these notes cannot be checked in the heat of battle.

Honor is something very important to him, with a chivalrous attitude towards women and a the prospect of a fair fight fixed as one of the most important in his mind. He rarely holds grudges, if ever, believing that all he has to do to beat an opponent is continue getting stronger and wholly preaches that anyone who helps him in any way deserves help from him. He highly disapproves to the point of revulsion any shinobi who does not respect their opponents or is unnecessarily cruel to them.

Continuing with the theme of respect for others, he often addresses others with titles that show a great amount of admiration and nicety, without swearing and without using contractions. He refers to people as -san, -kun etc., the proper titles they require, the only exception being Neji Hyuuga and Tenten, his teammates, who he refers to by their first names only, indicating some sort of friendly basis.

Gai's influence has really changed Lee's personality by a considerable amount, for example, his belief that no food can be disliked, no matter the taste, appearance or ingredients and his dedication to his promises.

Lee's attempts to prove and better himself are recurring themes for his actions throughout his life. He is generally optimistic, and believes that, with hard work and passion, he can surpass a natural genius, but can be prone to depression when faced with setbacks. His drive to succeed was initially most evident with his rivalry with Neji, having learned from Gai that having a rival will provide incentive to succeed. Neji, a "genius" shinobi, found Lee's efforts of bettering himself to be in vain, and believed that Lee would be a "failure" for the rest of his life.

However, in many ways, Lee himself is indeed a "genius" shinobi, he has just yet to realize it.

During his Academy life, Lee proved to have no talent for ninjutsu and genjutsu, meaning he was forced to focus solely on taijutsu. This garnered a lot of teasing from the other kids in his class. Eventually, through unknown means, Lee graduated the Academy, having been the only shinobi to graduate without the use of ninjutsu.

Lee was sorted into a Genin team with Neji Hyūga and Tenten under their sensei Maito Gai, dubbed Team Gai. During the team's first meeting, Lee vowed to become a powerful ninja without using ninjutsu or genjutsu. Neji laughed, believing Lee to be a fool, but their sensei took a special interest in him., eventually taking him under his wing. He encouraged Lee to keep at it and, in time, began teaching him powerful forms of taijutsu, including the Hachimon [Eight Gates].

Lee has displayed incredible diligence to his training and to his sensei, believing that with time he can surpass Neji and prove him wrong, a goal he has been working to his whole life. The two have fought numerous times and Lee, unable to face up against the powerful Juuken style of taijutsu, was soundly defeated each and every time.

Having not been able to participate in the Chuunin Exams last year, Lee hopes to surpass Neji here, for the whole village to see what a powerful shinobi he has become and finally get a step closer to his sensei.
